AMD Desktop Computer

AMD stands for Advanced Micro Devices, a member of the American Multinational Semiconductors company and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. AMD is a brainchild of Jerry Sanders and Ed Turney, both of who left the Fairchild Semiconductor Company to pursue their dream of producing next generation computer processor chips and other devices which have now come to power the AMD desktop computer. AMD is a close runner-up to Intel, which dominates the semiconductor and computer processor market, after battling it out with rival graphics processor giant, NVIDIA.

AMD makes quality microprocessors, chips and motherboards for computers and has been associated with fast server speeds that power the Internet and other crucial business back-end machines, great quality and world-class customer support which has recently seen it surpass Texas Instruments in this arena. Since April of 2005, AMD has been building dual core processors which now run AMD desktop computers the world over. AMD desktop computers are associated with quality and reliability especially for people who work in the gaming and graphics industry. The AMD desktop computer's association with the gaming and graphics industry has brought it toe to toe with industry graphics processor maestro NVIDIA and the two have battled for market share.

AMD desktop computers are also branded Athlon processor PCs after AMD released the Athlon processor chip to power its AMD desktop computers. In a strategic move to stay competitive, AMD has moved operations to China and after partnering with some local firms, has cheaply started manufacturing the revolutionary dual core processors. Current research being conducted in AND labs in the US and in China is geared to produce tomorrow's generation of third core and quad core PCs and this will be the power behind tomorrow's AMD desktop computer.
