Custom Computer
The top computer manufactures are Dell, Sony, Apple, HP-Compaq and Acer although Toshiba and Lenovo are also renowned names producing very high quality machines. These companies are now manufacturing top notch computers that come with a lot of awesome specs such as dual core processors for faster performance, over 2GB memory and larger than usual hard-drives. These specs should be sufficient for the average Joe who just wants to watch movies, burn CDs, surf the net and do homework or regular tasks. But there are people who require specialized performance that is a little above what comes with a regular computer. These people are gamers, graphics designers, special effects designers, webmaster and programmers and people who deal with computer animations. This specialized group of people need more memory and performance than can be packed into a regular computer and so they prefer to order a Custom Computer.
Custom Computers are computers which are built to the specifications of customer who are engaged in specialized tasks for. For instance, while regular computer users will be quite happy with the regular Intel(R) 82845G graphics card which also provides stunning graphics, but gamers and animation specialists will insist on NVIDIA's Quadro which is a next generation graphics card for surreal and super-stunning imagery. The GEFORCE card which is also a quality card, may cost around $70.00 while the custom Quadro graphics card may run anywhere upwards of $400.00!
To get a Custom Computer, one had to look for generic assemblers but now there are many quality companies that can organize and assemble a Custom Computer for anyone at a very attractive price. Dell was the first major manufacturer to get into the Custom Computer business. With Dell, customers could call and request a Custom Computer to be built to their exact specifications, whether they were gamers, programmers, sound engineers or graphics designers and this would be done fast and cheaply. Dell can also deliver a Custom Computer directly to the customer. This was a revolution of sorts for PC sales because Dell is really a major manufacture and major manufactures usually sell their wares to middlemen like Best Buy, Circuit City and Conns. But Dell decided to short-circuit the route and sell Custom Computers directly to consumers. This translated to better company/consumers relations and lower prices for Custom Computes.
Most Custom Computer are now mass produced. They are personally assembled by hand by skilled technicians who take great care to adhere to the customers' specifications. One award-winning manufacturer of Custom Computers is Digital Storm. Another is PCS for Everyone. The biggest of them all is off course Dell.
